Capacity Building Case Study

During a two-day retreat,
CCS guided the Maryland
Chamber of Commerce in
clarifying their mission/vision
& values. CSS then helped
identify milestones, celebration points, tasks, responsible parties and completion dates in
3-year strategic plan.

Maryland Chamber of Commerce Strategic Planning

Chamber of commerce organizations with small full-time staffs, a volunteer
board of directors and many, diverse business members, can experience a lack
of focus. The Maryland Chamber of Commerce is state’s leading statewide
business advocacy organization and has 830 member companies who employ
more than 422,000 people throughout the state.

In June 2007,Capuco Consulting Services planned and facilitated a two-day
retreat for the Maryland State Chamber of Commerce's Strategic Plan
Development. Representatives from chambers of commerce, educational
institutions, and non-profit organizations (many of which are on the CA list)
were convened for a series of meetings to identify 3-year goals for the MD
Chamber organization—one of which included detailed development of
milestones in environmental outreach and conservation stewardship. CCS
prepared all handouts, facilitation and stakeholder discussion summary
 documentation.
