Hazard Mitigation Planning for City of Annapolis

To be eligible for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Funds), state
and local entities are required to prepare a Hazard Mitigation Plan for
natural hazards. The purpose of the plan is to assess a community's
vulnerabilities to natural hazards and prepare long-term strategies to

address them.

Considering the destruction that Hurricane Isabel visited on the City of
Annapolis in 2003, maintaining eligibility for these emergency funds was
 a priority. Specifically,Capuco Consulting:

  • Collected data and statistics from a wide variety of sources
  • Worked with state, county and city officials as well as business owners in the City and other agencies in development of the plan
  • Prepared draft plan for public comment
  • Participated in series of public meetings
  • Prepared final report for delivery to Maryland Emergency Management Agency
